About Me

I currently work as both an IT Technician and a Youth Worker. I am keen to move into a career in software development, taking opportunities to practice software engineering in my free time to achieve this. These include:

  • Participating in game jams with my software engineer friends. I have used the JavaScript framework Phaser 3 and Node.js to create browser-based games during high-pressure, time limited events. I have also used tools such as Trello and GitHub to co-ordinate tasks and version control code.
  • Beginning to learn the Lisp dialect Clojure and coming to see the elegance and utility of the functional paradigm, including a growing understanding of concepts such as scope, immutability, and serialization.
  • I have created and tested UI systems using Microsoft Power Apps, incorporating accessibility concerns such as foreign language and colour-blind users. I understand the value of embedding test procedures in my work to reveal unexpected behaviours and ensure robust integration with existing systems.

In my free time you will find me playing a shambolic, plant-munching ranger in D&D tabletop gaming, or spending time with my wonderfully supportive girlfriend Jo.
